A bit of History...

The Library Reading Room, pictured above (circa 1897), became the fourth floor Exhibit Hall when the building was remodeled in the 1970s to become the "Chicago Public Library Cultural Center." |

Sidney R. Yates Gallery
The Italian Renaissance architecture of
the Sidney R. Yates Gallery has been restored to its original grandeur.
Arched bronze doorways, similar to those of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence,
are inlaid with verd antique marble. Richly ornamented columns brush the
intricately detailed coffered ceiling. The 7,600-square-foot hall often
showcases architecture and design as well as international touring exhibitions.
