Getting Around During Construction

Even though the major roadwork is complete, drivers still should expect off-peak lane closures in both directions along South Lake Shore Drive from 23rd to 67th Streets.

Motorists should be extra cautious as they approach the intersection of 57th Drive and South Lake Shore Drive due to continuing work in the area.

Access to parking lots will be maintained in Burnham and Jackson Parks.

In your travel plans, the city recommends that you also consider taking public transportation. CTA bus stops will not be affected. In addition to the CTA, Metra and Pace also serve the area. For schedule, parking and fare information, call 836-7000 from all Chicagoland area codes or visit each agency's respective website. Simply go to the Important Links and Phone Numbers page.

Bike and Pedestrian Information

Access will be maintained to the bicycle and pedestrian path during the reconstruction of South Lake Shore Drive. Cyclists and pedestrians should exercise caution since roadway construction may cause short-term, localized disruptions to the pathway.
