Overnight work reduces lanes along South Lake Shore Drive

As the South Lake Shore Drive project proceeds into its final year, crews tonight (Jan. 15) and into tomorrow morning will perform some electrical work in the Burnham Park section. Here's what drivers will find:
  • Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight (Jan. 15), traffic will be down to two lanes in each direction between Oakwood Blvd. (3900 south) and 55th Street.
  • Then, at 11 pm., traffic will be down to one lane in each direction in the same area.
  • By 5 a.m. Friday morning (Jan. 16), all lanes of traffic will reopen.
  • These short-term lane closures are for crews to safely perform overhead electrical work in the area.
  • Drivers are urged to be extra cautious in the area due to the close proximity of work crews and construction equipment.
  • In all other areas between 23rd Street and 67th Street, drivers should always expect intermittent non-rush hour lane closures in both directions.
