Expect northbound lane closures Saturday along South Lake Shore Drive

As the South Lake Shore Drive reconstruction project progresses, northbound drivers from Oakwood Blvd. (3900 south) to 31st Street should expect possible delays due to lane closures in the area on Saturday (March 29). Here's what drivers will find:
  • Weather permitting - from 5 a.m. until midnight - northbound traffic will be down from three lanes to two lanes from Oakwood Blvd. (3900 south) to 31st Street, including the reversible lane which is accessible at 47th Street.
  • The first exist for traffic entering the reversible lane will be 18th St.
  • Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times and drivers should expect lane configuration changes and possible delays in the area.
  • The lane closures are necessary so work crews may safely pour concrete for new northbound lanes.
  • Drivers are encouraged to consider use of any of the alternative routes to by-pass possible delays on Lake Shore Drive. Alternative routes include Cottage Grove Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and the Dan Ryan expressway.
