South Lake Shore Drive to close overnight in Jackson Park this weekend
As the South Lake Shore Drive project progresses, drivers in Jackson Park will be detoured around a short-term road closure this weekend. Here's what drivers will find:
- Beginning 8 p.m. Friday night (April 11), northbound Lake Shore Drive will be closed to all traffic between Hayes Drive (6300 south) to 57th Drive.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured via Richards Drive to westbound Hayes Drive, then north on Cornell Drive and 57th Drive.
- Lake Shore Drive will reopen to traffic by 7 a.m. Saturday (April 12).
- The closure is necessary for the safe installation of new sewer and water main crossings near Science Drive (5800 south).
