Northbound lane closures tonight and Tuesday night along South Lake Shore Drive

As the South Lake Shore Drive reconstruction project progresses, drivers should expect possible delays due to ramp work set to begin Thursday night. Here's what drivers will find:
  • From 8 p.m. Thursday (May 22) to 5 a.m. Friday morning (May 23), the ramp from the inbound Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to northbound Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to one lane of traffic.
  • The lane reductions are necessary for work crews to safely resurface the roadway.
  • Then, beginning Saturday (May 24) through June, the entrance ramp from Oakwood Blvd. (3900 south) to northbound Lake Shore Drive will be closed for reconstruction. At the same time, a newly reconstructed exit ramp from northbound Lake Shore Drive to Oakwood Blvd. will reopen to traffic.
  • As alternates to the Oakwood Blvd. entrance ramp, drivers may use the northbound entrances at 47th Street or 31st Street.
