Northbound Lake Shore Drive to Lose a Lane

By 5 a.m. Wednesday, traffic squeezed for prep work from 57th Drive north to 31st Street

As the Chicago Department of Transportation continues the prep work stage leading up to the reconstruction of South Lake Shore Drive, drivers heading north will lose a lane between 57th Drive and 31st Street. Specifically, here's what drivers will find by Wednesday morning's rush hour:

  • Two lanes open and one lane closed northbound from 57th Drive to 47th Street.

  • Three lanes open and one lane closed northbound from 47th Street to 31st Street.

  • For now, the southbound side of the Drive is virtually unaffected.
