BACP oversees the licensing of Chicago’s public chauffeurs and public vehicles including taxicabs, liveries, charter and site seeing buses, horse drawn carriages, ambulances, water taxis and tour boats. BACP also oversees the purchasing of taxicab medallions, vehicle inspections and rates of fare. Valet Parking Operators

Effective May 2, 2016, Valet Parking Operator Licenses will no longer be accepted, transacted or processed at 2350 W Ogden. All Valet Parking Operator business license applications and communications will now be processed at the BACP's Small Business Center located at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle Street, Room 800. The new WAV information page is for passengers and for the taxicab industry.  For passengers, Open Taxis is your source to get a WAV taxicab.  This page hosts documents and information regarding incentives, putting on a WAV taxicab and maintaining a WAV taxicab.

Public vehicles are required to pay certain taxes. You can register online your Ground Transportation Tax emblems and MPEA Airport Departure Tax emblems.

Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Public Chauffeur Licensing Section & Cashiering: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Public Vehicle/Medallion Licensing Section: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Please be advised, due to high volume and necessary processing time, to ensure that everyone is serviced before the facility closes at 4:30 pm:

  • Chauffeur licensees must check-in at the reception desk before 2:00 pm  
  • Public Vehicle / Medallion licensees must check-in at the reception desk before 3:00 pm 
  • For public safety and security, if building capacity has reached maximum allowable, the front door may be locked to prevent more people from entering the building.
