Recalled Products
A product recall occurs when the government, through its U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, removes a product from market because it is dangerous and can injure or kill a child or adult. This is usually done in cooperation with the manufacturer. The City of Chicago's Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) provides consumers with information about recalled products and ensures that these recalled products are removed from store shelves.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) works with industry and state partners to publish press releases and other public notices about recalls that may potentially present a significant or serious risk to the consumer or user of the product. The Fourth Annual Safe Shopping Guide
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan released the Fourth Annual Safe Shopping Guide: Play It Safe. This Guide contains information on every children’s product recalled from January 1, 2010, through October 31, 2010.
New Federal Requirements for Crib Standards
Beginning June 28, 2011 all cribs sold in the United States must meet new federal requirements for overall crib safety. These 5 new Federal Requirements address more than just drop-sides. Mattress supports, slats and hardware on all cribs are now required to be more durable and manufacturers have more stringent testing requirements to prove compliance.
