Low Alert  Small Project Permit Program

Effective July 19, 2010, the Department of Buildings is offering a new permit program for architect-prepared plans.  This new program is designed to expedite the permit process for small renovation projects. 

 

The appointment scheduler will be available on July 16, 2010.

 

To qualify the building must be:

Residential: owner-occupied with no more than 3 dwelling units.

Business or Commercial: must be an existing tenant or owner currently using the space

 

The scope of work must be as follows:

 

Single family

  • dormer additions (up to 600 square feet)
  • small additions (up to 600 square feet)
  • two or three dwelling units
  • interior renovations

 

Single Family and up to 3 units

  • porch repairs
  • porch replacement
  • deck additions and replacements
  • interior renovations

 

Business or Commercial Occupancy

  • interior renovations, same size up to 5,000 square feet
  • expansion of an existing space to a total of 5,000 square feet
  • storefront replacement

Self-Certification projects not greater than 5,000 square feet are allowed to use the City Hall Neighborhood Center.

 

The Zoning review for these projects will be performed by a DOB Project Manager.  To book an appointment for these projects; login to your City account and go to the "schedule an appointment" option.  In the dropdown box select the "City Hall-Neighborhood Center" option and select your appointment time. 

 If you have already booked an appointment with Zoning please cancel that appointment.  Failure to cancel the appointment will result in a $150 missed appointment fee.
