Home Owner Assistance

The Home Owner Assistance permit process allows the owner occupant of a single family home to prepare the architectural drawings for a home alteration or addition with the assistance of a DOB Project Manager (PM).  No architect is required.

The PM will perform the zoning review and assist in the preparation of a simple set of code compliant permit drawings.  Complex zoning issues, however, may require a Zoning Ordinance Administration review in Room 905 of City Hall.  The Home Owner Assistance process typically requires 3 to 5 one hour meetings with the PM at any of our (3) Neighborhood Residential Permit Centers.  The owner occupant must personally attend and participate in all meetings.  Visit the Neighborhood Residential Permit Center page for office locations, hours of operation and phone numbers.

A login account is required to schedule appointments.  Login accounts and appointments can be created online by selecting the Getting Started Online button.  When scheduling an appointment, select “Neighborhood Residential Permit Center” from the drop down menu.
