The Congress Parkway improvement project, from Michigan Avenue to Wells Street, began Oct. 21.
The project will provide myriad improvements for motorists and pedestrians, improving safety and sprucing up a main corridor into downtown Chicago.
During most of the project, Congress Parkway will be reduced to three lanes inbound, two lanes outbound. Temporary sidewalk closures will occur during sidewalk reconstruction, and pedestrians will be rerouted.
Of course, no project of this scale can be done without creating some inconvenience. CDOT has been working closely with building owners and managers, businesses, engineers and construction professionals to ensure the project moves forward with the least amount of inconvenience possible.
Please note that some work will occur during evening hours, especially during the first few weeks of the project. However, CDOT has restricted nighttime contractors to activities that do not generate excessive noise, and will monitor the site closely.
