Low Alert LGBT Health Advisory Council: Call for Advisory Council Members

November 30, 2012

CDPH LogoThe Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) would like to invite community stakeholders, representatives of health organizations, and individuals concerned about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) health issues to join the LGBT Health Advisory Council. This council will advise CDPH and support the implementation of the LGBT Community Action Plan. Membership will also provide the individuals serving on the council a unique opportunity to participate in policy development and share feedback with CDPH.

The LGBT Community Action Plan includes specific strategies to address the health needs of this diverse community. There is strong evidence that the LBGT community experiences disparities in health status and healthcare access due to its unique minority position and other factors.

A copy of the LGBT Community Action Plan may be downloaded here.

  • Support implementation of the LGBT Community Action Plan
  • Provide recommendations to CDPH regarding policy development, general feedback, and LGBT health education related material
  • Develop discussion groups and/or other related activities
  • Facilitate communication between the LGBT community and CDPH on LGBT health issues
  • Increase the visibility of the LGBT Community Action Plan efforts in Chicago
  • Other activities as the council sees appropriate
