The 2011 HIV/STI Surveillance Report provides a detailed picture of HIV, AIDS and STIs in Chicago, along with insights into our successes and the challenges we face in the future. Using the Healthy Chicago Public Health Agenda as a blueprint, we are enhancing our efforts to track these diseases, developing new prevention and treatment intervention strategies, reinvigorating our existing programs and services, and stepping up our policy initiatives to make structural changes to the existing service delivery systems throughout Chicago. By 2020, Healthy Chicago’s goal is to reduce the number of new reported cases of HIV by 25 percent. Together with our community partners, we can achieve this goal ‐ making Chicago a healthier city for residents in every neighborhood.
