Bundle up and get ready to belt out some holiday classics at these festive events that are part concert, part sing-along as local Chicago choral groups lead hundreds of celebrants in song. Santa Claus will join the crowd beforehand, and after the music, head a few steps away to take a spin on the McCormick Tribune ice rink.
Oakdale Youth Choir
The children’s gospel choir based out of Oakdale Covenant Church on the South Side of Chicago was originally formed as part of the church’s fundraising efforts to provide disaster relief to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Originally formed for a single fundraiser event, the popular choir now performs regularly internationally and has shared the stage with renowned artists including Jennifer Hudson and Common.
Lutheran Choir of Chicago
The Lutheran Choir of Chicago (LCC) is a unique sacred choral ensemble with a rich spiritual tradition and an ever-expanding repertoire. Now in its 68th season, LCC continues to enlighten, educate and entertain LCC has enlightened, educated and entertained the people of Chicago and the world. LCC was founded in 1947 and has evolved into an exceptional group of performers from different spiritual backgrounds who share a common desire to make joyful music. LCC’s holiday program, The Star, will be presented on December 5 and 6. Wicker Park Choral Singers
Wicker Park Choral Singers is a Chicago-based, all-volunteer choir dedicated to building community through choral music. The group has performed in spaces throughout the Chicagoland area, including the Chicago Cultural Center, the Fourth Presbyterian Church on the Magnificent Mile, the St. Vincent de Paul Church, Wicker Park and the Humboldt Park Boathouse.
Chicago Choral Artists
Chicago Choral Artists (CCA), formerly known as the James Chorale, are an ensemble of dedicated musicians that have been presenting innovative music to Chicago audiences for nearly 40 years. Whether performing Gregorian chant or gospel, CCA seeks to present excellent interpretations of its diverse repertoire, creating a vibrant thread of music which connects the director, the singers and the audience. CCA programs feature new commissions and music of indigenous cultures in tandem with fresh interpretations of classic masterworks.
