Rhythmunity Ensemble (Quintet)
Drumming is a communal art with oral and aural traditions in many cultures of the world. The Rhythmunity Ensemble will showcase the intricate role of the drums from chanting to popular song repertoire, classical music as well as folkloric dance traditions in West Africa and North Africa, India, the Middle East, Brazil, and Cuba. This highly energetic program invites audiences to engage with the Ensemble while experiencing sounds and rhythms of many exotic drums from around the world.
Contemporary Music Ensemble & Dance
The Contemporary Music Project presents dance, drum, and song traditions from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Morocco. Everybody dances to the beat of the drum, but the movements and rhythms change from place to place. How do dancing, drumming, and singing create music so different, yet so familiar? Join us and find out.
