Ald. Ray Suarez (31st), City Agencies to Co-host Housing Resource Fair on June 8

Workshops and affordable housing resources for property owners, renters and homebuyers will be available at an information-packed “Housing Resource Fair” on Saturday, June 8.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Falconer School, 3020 N. Lamon Ave.  Admission is free.

Co-sponsored by Ald. Ray Suarez (31st), the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association and the Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED), the one-day-only event will have more than 20 exhibitors including lenders, developers, housing counselors, government agencies and other professionals showcasing the many housing programs and services that are available citywide.

“If you are a first-time homebuyer, a current property owner or concerned about your mortgage, we want to link you to the wide-range of resources that are available to assist you,” Ald. Suarez said.

Information will include step-by-step instruction on homeownership opportunities, foreclosure prevention, and tools and resources to help sustain homeownership. The fair will also include free workshops on:

  • Property Tax appeals
  • Sustainable backyards

Residents will have the chance to enter one of three raffles to win an Energy Star appliance, a $700 room makeover, or $300 in new landscaping.
