63rd/Ashland TIF

Designation: 2006    Expiration: 2030

Located at the terminus of the Chicago Transit Authority's Green Line in the West Englewood community, the 63rd/Ashland TIF district is predominately residential with a mix of commercial institutional and residential uses. Through property assembly and preparation efforts, the district is intended to promote redevelopment of outdated and obsolete retail properties along Ashland Avenue, 59th Street and 63rd Street as modern commercial structures that conform to local zoning designations. The 495-actre district was also created to encourage private infill development on vacant and underutilized land, and to encourage the rehabilitation of deteriorated residential properties for use by current and future residents.
