Roosevelt/Cicero TIF

Designation: 1998    Expiration: 2034*

The 531-acre Roosevelt/Cicero TIF district is characterized by industrial buildings and vacant industrial land within the Roosevelt/Cicero Industrial Corridor. The TIF was created to support existing employers and to facilitate the redevelopment of abandoned and underutilized properties that have long served the North Lawndale community with industrial employment. The district is intended to facilitate the assembly and preparation of vacant land, to provide rehabilitation assistance, to help remove unnecessary streets and alleys, and provide infrastructure appropriate for business viability. Other public works goals include assorted roadway improvements that facilitate the movement of trucks and other vehicles, access and security improvements that enable local businesses to operate effectively, and utility upgrades. Job training and relocation costs are also supported by the TIF.
