2013 Kathy Osterman Awards

Each year, the Kathy Osterman Awards honor city employees for their superior public service. The awards are designed to showcase the outstanding contributions of city employees and individuals employed at its sister agencies. They also help to inspire others into selecting careers in public service.

Employees can be nominated in the following categories:

1.    Outstanding Executive Employee
2.    Outstanding Professional Employee
3.    Outstanding Supervisory Employee
4.    Outstanding Clerical Employee
5.    Outstanding Public Safety Employee
6.    Outstanding Educational Employee
7.    Outstanding General Service Employee
8.    Excellence in Leadership Award


Individuals can be nominated by any other employee of the City of Chicago or sister agencies. Please review the nomination instructions for more information.
The nominations are reviewed by a panel from the City of Chicago and its sister agencies.  Finalists and winners are then selected by the panel.

In 1993, the Superior Public Service Awards were renamed in memory of the late Kathy Osterman, who served as alderman and later as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. This year marks the 45th year of the awards program.
