What We Do

Natural Resources & Water Quality

The Natural Resources & Water Quality Division works to protect, restore, and enhance Chicago’s natural resources.  The Division’s programs entail:

  • Educating communities and providing residents with resources and materials to green their neighborhoods;
  • Managing the grounds and public programming at the Chicago Center for Green Technology;
  • Coordinating research, outreach, and ecological rehabilitation efforts in Chicago’s Calumet region;
  • Managing the creation of the Ford Calumet Environmental Center;
  • and Establishing policies and programs to conserve and enhance water quality, deter invasive species and expand and protect Chicago’s urban forest.
