Information About the City of Chicago’s Workforce Development Programs
The Department of Family and Support Services' Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides training, placement and retention services to Chicagoans with low/moderate income levels. Under CDBG, there are three program initiatives to capture targeted customers:
- Innovative Programs focus on special need populations, including but not limited to: dislocated workers, persons with disabilities, non-English speaking immigrants, CHA residents, homeless, ex-offenders and in/out of school at-risk youth.
- Customized Training and Placement Programs emphasize a partnership that is cultivated between employer and delegate agency.
- Domestic Violence Programs provide survivors with an opportunity for economic self-sufficiency through employment in conjunction with abuse counseling services.
