Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Park District Superintendent Michael Kelly announced that online registration for winter park programming begins today. Online registration takes place over two days, depending on park location. The Park District works with residents to ensure that programming is affordable regardless of income level.

“As the weather turns colder, residents of all ages in all neighborhoods can find fun ways to stay active by registering for winter programs at our parks,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Our parks and field houses are gathering places for our families and Chicago Park District programs offer something for everyone.”

Residents can register online at www.chicagoparkdistrict.com for programs at parks located west of California beginning today, Monday, December 2 at 9 a.m. Online registration for programs at parks located east of California Avenue begins on Tuesday, December 3 at 9 a.m.

"Even in the winter time, the Chicago Park District offers a variety of ways for residents to stay active," said Superintendent Kelly. "Family, adult, teen and senior programming is available at parks citywide."  

In-person registration for most parks begins on Saturday, December 7.  Winter programs begin on Monday, January 6, 2014 and run through the week of March 17, 2014.  For more information, contact your local park or visit www.chicagoparkdistrict.com.

This fall, registrations for programming grew by 14 percent in comparison to last fall, in which 71,500 residents registered.  Chicago Park District online registrations have also set a new record with 30,038 registrations this month as compared to the previous record of 26,930 registrations that was set in the spring 2013.  Estimated gross program revenue has increased 17 percent to $2.22 million versus $1.89 million last fall.

Preparing for Registration Day
Given the popularity of programs, patrons are encouraged to follow the registration tips listed below.

Set up an account on the new registration system if you haven’t already.  The new registration system took effect with spring 2012 registration.Add all persons who you plan to register for on your account.Check your account login and password before registration begins.  If you experience any problems, this will allow time to contact the Chicago Park District for assistance. Review your account information and make changes as needed, with specific focus on the following questions that were recently added:School information.Child pick up (who can/who can’t pick up your child), and the ability for your child to walk home on his/her own.Create a wish list with the programs that you plan to register.Review screen shots of the registration process.
