This morning, Mayor Rahm Emanuel visited 1871 alongside Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. Ballmer visited Chicago in an effort to encourage entrepreneurship and discuss how the Microsoft platform can help startups. The Mayor discussed the thriving technology community in Chicago, highlighting 1871’s role. He also discussed Microsoft’s role in supporting including STEM education in Chicago. Microsoft is the City’s partner at Lake View High School, one of the five STEM high schools launched since the Mayor took office, which provide Chicago students with a rigorous education that equips them for the careers of tomorrow.
