Mayor Rahm Emanuel today announced Divvy, Chicago’s bike share system, is partnering with the Chicago Blackhawks to celebrate the start of upcoming NHL hockey season with five Blackhawks-themed Divvy bikes, and giving riders the chance to win great prizes from the team.

“These bikes are a fun way for hockey fans in neighborhoods all across Chicago to celebrate the start of a new Blackhawks season,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Divvy is a great transportation option for getting around the city – to work, school, or even a hockey game.”

The bikes will be unveiled today at the Blackhawks’ sold-out Training Camp Festival at United Center. The black and red bikes have the team logo and the hashtag #BLACKHAWKSBIKE on the back fenders, and will don the familiar jersey numbers of 2, 10, 19, 81 and 88.

The release of the bikes also begins the #BLACKHAWKSBIKE contest, with prizes awarded each week through the end of October. Spotting one of these bikes and posting a photo on social media with the hashtag #BLACKHAWKSBIKE makes Chicagoans and visitors eligible to win great prizes, including:

• Four tickets to a Blackhawks home game during the 2014-15 regular season
• Duncan Keith #2 Autographed Replica Jersey
• Patrick Sharp #10 Autographed Puck
• Jonathan Toews #19 Autographed Replica Jersey
• Marian Hossa #81 Autographed Hockey Stick
• Patrick Kane #88 Autographed Hockey Stick

Other prizes include Blackhawks prize packs, autographed Blackhawks ambassador posters, Blackhawks merchandise and Divvy memberships.

Each week, Divvy and the Blackhawks will tally the number of trips taken on each Blackhawks bike. The results will be posted online so fans can see which numbered bike is getting the most rides.

Since launching last year, Divvy riders have taken more than 2.6 million trips on the 3,000 bikes to and from 300 neighborhood stations.
