Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Park District today announced that online registration for spring programming begins on Monday, February 23 with in-person registration to begin on Saturday, February 28. Ballet, yoga, softball, boxing, ice skating, boot camp and soccer are among many of the offerings soon to be available for the upcoming season.

“Although we still have snow on the ground, spring is just around the corner and the Park District is helping to keep residents in every neighborhood active and engaged, all year long,” said Mayor Emanuel. “No matter your age, neighborhood or income level, the Park District has something for everyone.”

Programs can now be viewed online. Registration kicks off Monday, February 23 at www.chicagoparkdistrict.com. Online registration takes place over two days and in two different zones:

  • Parks located west of California Avenue will begin online registration on Monday, February 23 at 9 am
  • Parks located east of California Avenue will begin online registration on Tuesday, February 24 at 9 am

“There isn’t a better time to go out and get active with the Chicago Park District,” said Michael P. Kelly, General Superintendent and CEO. “We are the best deal in town with more program offerings than ever – there is no reason to miss out.”
In-person registration begins at local parks Saturday, February 28 or Monday, March 2 depending upon the park location. The Park District works with residents to ensure that no child is turned away due to their inability to pay, and financial assistance is available.

The Chicago Park District continues to reach record registration numbers. In 2014, there were 330,638 enrollments in Park District programming. This winter, registrations for programming grew by 14 percent to over 75,000 residents. Instructional programming offered by the Park District also increased, growing nine percent this year to over 5,100 opportunities, up from 4,965 opportunities available in 2013.
