MOPD offers FREE amplified phones, and CapTel devices to qualified individuals through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation.

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

  • Be a legal resident of Illinois
  • Fill out the program application (available at MOPD's two locations)
  • Have standard phone service in residence (land-line)
  • Have a difficult time hearing on the phone
  • Have your application signed by your doctor, audiologist or Illinois Department of Human Services Counselor for the Deaf

Test the Phone that's Right for You

There are many different types and degrees of hearing loss. Because a phone works for another person does not mean it will work for you. There are various differences in tone and clarity that must be matched to your needs. The only proven way to do this is to try the phones on a real call.

Please check out the video from  Illinois Telecommunication Access Corporation's Website
