CHICAGO –The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) reminds visitors and residents to be aware of the possible traffic delays due to street closures and increased activity in the Grant Park area during the Taste of Chicago.
Street Closures:
The Taste of Chicago runs from Wednesday, July 10 to Sunday, July 14. The following street closures in the area are already in place and continue through Monday, July 15:
| Street | From | To |
| Jackson | Lake Shore Drive | Michigan |
| Columbus | Monroe | Balbo |
| Balbo (Balbo remains open to traffic) | Roosevelt | |
| Congress | Congress Parkway Circle | Columbus |
Parking Restrictions and Traffic Control:
Large crowds are expected for this annual event and pedestrians and motorists should be prepared for delays and increased activity in the area. OEMC encourages motorists and residents to read signs before parking in the area and adhere to the instructions of Traffic Control Aides (TCA’s).
OEMC Traffic and Weather Notifications:
Sign up for free real-time traffic and weather alerts at www.notifychicago.org. Although the National Weather Service in Chicago forecasts moderate temperatures for the upcoming days, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and, as always, OEMC advises those attending any event to check weather updates and to take the necessary precautions should the need arise.
OEMC works with event organizers and various City departments to monitor special events and weather conditions for public safety.
