With Friday’s and Saturday’s concerts including a big drop-off crowd, the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) reminds motorists and residents in the Soldier Field area to expect additional traffic and concert-goers to know the drop-off locations designated for smoother traffic flow and safe operations.
The One Direction concert on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, begins at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Due to the younger audience for the concerts and to assist parents with child drop off and pick up, areas near the concert venue have been designated to ensure safety and efficient traffic flow.
Drop Off and Pick Up:
Variable message boards and signage will be visible to assist parents with child drop off and pick up. Parking and security staff will provide information flyers to drivers as they enter the stadium area.
Drop Off: Parents will be directed to the 18th Street turnaround just north of 18th Street and west of Lake Shore Drive southbound exit ramp.
Pick Up: Parents will be directed to park along the curb of Moe Drive, from 18th Street southward, and wait for their child. Sections of Moe Drive will be color-coded (indicated by signs) and will serve as a reference point for children to find their parent. Concert-goers should communicate with their pick up person which area they are waiting. The southbound 18th Street ramp may close, if necessary, and parents will be directed south on Lake Shore Drive to
31st / Moe Drive exit to wait for their child. Parents will be allowed to stage in designated
areas for pick up by 9:45 p.m.
Limos and taxis drop-off and pick-up is located on McFetridge Drive. For CTA additional service for events, see www.transitchicago.com .
The Luke Bryan concert will be on Sunday, August 31, also at Soldier Field. The concert begins at 6:00 p.m. and gates open at 4:00 p.m.
