PHASE FOUR GRID GARBAGE COLLECTION
Beginning November 12, 2012, the City of Chicago will implement the fourth phase of the grid garbage collection system in targeted areas of the city. By using a grid garbage collection system, the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation will increase service efficiency and crew productivity to provide the best possible services to residents.
GARBAGE COLLECTION
Effective the week of November 12, 2012, please be advised that households who receive City of Chicago garbage collection services may be subject to a change in collection day. Residents who live within the color-shaded areas of the map should review the map to determine their day of service beginning the week of November 12, 2012. All residents will continue to receive weekly refuse collection.
RECYCLING
Please note if your household receives curbside blue cart recycling services, your day of service will also change to the same day as your new garbage collection day, effective November 12, 2012, but your week of service will stay the same. If your household receives alley blue cart recycling services, your week of service will remain the same, but your day of service may change. Please leave your blue cart in the alley during your entire collection week to ensure collection.
We encourage you to share this information with your neighbors and appreciate your cooperation and flexibility during this transition as we work to make our services as efficient as possible for Chicago residents.
