10 Year Plan to End Homelessness
n January 2003, the Mayor endorsed a 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness (the Plan) that was developed in conjunction with hundreds of stakeholders through the Chicago Continuum of Care. Joined together in a common vision, the public and private sectors have begun to implement the Plan, which calls for sweeping changes in how homeless services are delivered in Chicago. The common vision has three core tenets: Prevention, Housing First, and Wraparound Services.

The Sideshow Theater Production of 9 Circles is the story of Private Daniel Reeves who was never good at anything but being in the army.

 

BodyCartography Project - Super Nature Installation (a performance for an audience of one)
An immersive experience offered to the public during SHIFT: A New Media Exhibit by Luftwerk, BodyCartography Project will present Super Nature Installation on October 11 and 12, 12–5 pm as part of the new SpinOff dance series.

 

BodyCartography Project presents Super Nature
Born out of the restless imaginations of Olive Bieringa & Otto Ramstad, this radical ecological melodrama is replete with artifice and animal appetites. The dance/performance/installation duo engages the wild and civilized aspects of human nature with idiosyncratic movement drawn from bodily impulses and social interactions.

 

Café Society
Café Society is a series of conversations where families, friends, neighbors, and citizens come together to discuss current events and other important political and social issues.

 

Chicago Air and Water Show
The Chicago Air and Water Show presented by Shell Oil Products U.S. and the City of Chicago is the largest FREE show of its kind in the United States. The show can be viewed along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

 

Chicago Artists Month (CAM)
Chicago Artists Month (CAM), presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, highlights the creativity of artists throughout Chicago through both curated and non-juried events and programs.

 

Chicago Asian American Jazz Festival
The Chicago Asian American Jazz Festival will take place in the Chicago Cultural Center's Claudia Cassidy Theater on Saturday, October 26 at 1pm.

 

Chicago Blues Festival
The Chicago Blues Festival is the largest free blues festival in the world and remains the largest of Chicago's Music Festivals. During three days on five stages, more than 500,000 blues fans prove that Chicago is the "Blues Capital of the World." Past performers include Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, B.B. King, the late Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy and the late Koko Taylor.

 

Chicago Community Cinema
Community Cinema is a groundbreaking public education and civic engagement initiative featuring free monthly screenings of films from the Emmy Award-winning series Independent Lens and other PBS presentations.

 

Chicago Community Land Trust
The Chicago Community Land Trust (CCLT) was founded in 2006 to address the increasingly limited supply of funding for affordable housing. The goal of the CCLT is to preserve the long-term affordability of homes created through City programs and maintain a permanent pool of homeownership opportunities for working families

Once again the Bronzeville neighborhood, the birthplace of Gospel music, will serve as the festival’s main home – with the weekend portion of the festival featuring two stages of music at Ellis Park (37th and Cottage Grove).
