The City provides consumers with information about their rights and helps in protecting them from fraud and deceptive practices such as mortgage fraud or home repair fraud; provides consumers with information about recalled merchandise and ensures that recalled products are removed from store shelves; and promotes consumer awareness by hosting and attending educational forums throughout the year.

The City helps consumers when they have been victims of fraud and helps to resolve complaints against businesses through mediation. If mediation is unsuccessful, charges may be brought to obtain consumer restitution or fines.
