Building Energy Use Benchmarking MCC CHAPTER 18-14

The Chicago Energy Benchmarking Ordinance was adopted in September, 2013 and seeks to raise awareness of energy performance through information and transparency.  To comply, covered buildings must track whole-building energy use, report to the City annually, and verify data accuracy every three years.

The ordinance applies to municipal, commercial, and residential buildings that contain 50,000 or more square feet and is enforced by BACP.  For more information, see www.cityofchicago.org/energybenchmarking.
