The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that it will be hosting two Pop Up Planning Meetings in the coming days to solicit public input for a study of how to improve transit connections within the River North-Streeterville area and between River North-Streeterville and the West Loop. The study is designed to produce specific proposed improvements that are supported by the community and stakeholders.

The Pop Up Meetings this Thursday, April 30, and next Thursday, May 7, (see below for details) follow a public meeting last August, and two previous Pop Up meetings last year. City planners will showcase 13 alternative pathways for transit connections and detailed data CDOT has compiled from surveys on the current transit and transportation habits of people who live and work in River North-Streeterville.

The public is invited to view the alternatives and submit feedback on their preferences. These meetings will help to define the final three alternatives that will be shared at a public meeting in the fall at which residents will be asked to help identify a Locally Preferred Alternative.

CDOT has been examining the travel markets and preferences in the River North-Streeterville area; physical and traffic constraints; and other benefits, costs, and impacts of different transit alternatives through several stages of screening and analysis. Additionally, a Technical Advisory Committee and Community Advisory Committee have met throughout the duration of the project.
