47th/Ashland TIF

Designation: 2002    Expiration: 2026

The 47th/Ashland TIF was created to foster improvements to older industrial and commercial properties along Ashland Avenue, 47th Street and 51st Street in the Back of the Yards community. It is also intended to provide assistance for mixed-income housing endeavors, especially on vacant lots and other underutilized properties. The 325-acre district serves to facilitate land acquisition efforts, aid in the beautification of commercial corridors, and provide improvements to alleys and sidewalks. It is also intended to mitigate truck traffic on residential streets by increasing viaduct heights along key transportation routes. It also provides relocation assistance for residents that may be displaced by new development.
