Galewood/Armitage Industrial TIF

Designation: 1999    Expiration: 2035

The Galewood/Armitage TIF district was designated to support industrial, commercial and institutional investments within the Armitage Industrial Corridor and on adjacent blocks. Located within the Belmont-Cragin community, the 465-acre district is intended to foster the redevelopment or demolition of obsolete industrial buildings and to promote new business-related projects on vacant land. It is also designed to promote business-related infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of area viaducts and the removal of underutilized streets and alleys that could be redeveloped for job-generating development projects. Additional public works projects targeted by the TIF include improvements to Hanson Park's open spaces and recreational structures.
