Pilsen TIF

Designation: 1998    Expiration: 2034*

The goal of the Pilsen Industrial Corridor TIF district is the revitalization of long-established Southwest Side industrial and commercial areas with uses that create jobs for residents of the Pilsen community. The 907-acre district is intended to maximize the Pilsen Industrial Corridor’s proximity to major highways, rail lines and water routes for manufacturing, distribution and warehouse purposes, and to coordinate retail and service-oriented development on appropriate sites. Funds are targeted for the assembly and preparation of land for new construction projects, to foster rehabilitation projects where feasible, and to assist with private and public investment projects that support local institutional uses. Additional priorities include improvements to seawalls along the Chicago River and assistance for job training and readiness programs.
