Mayor Emanuel Applauds State Senate Passage Of Minimum Wage Bill

February 5, 2015

Mayor Rahm Emanuel applauded the Illinois State Senate’s passage of legislation that would raise the state’s minimum wage to $11 and maintain the Mayor’s commitment to raise Chicago’s minimum wage to $13 by 2019. Earlier today, the bill passed the Senate on a 35-18-1 vote.

“This bill is an important step forward for working families throughout Illinois and for thousands of Chicago residents who work outside the city,” said Mayor Emanuel. “In December, we raised Chicago’s minimum wage so no family who works will have to raise a child in poverty, and I’m glad to see progress is being made for working families across the state.”
