2013 Ethics Training Violations

February 28, 2014

Pursuant to the City of Chicago’s Municipal Code, all City employees and officials are required to complete an annual ethics training program created and administered by the Board of Ethics by each December 31 (see §2-156-145 of the Governmental Ethics Ordinance).  Nearly 31,000 individuals completed the training in 2013. As provided in §2-156-465(b)(1) of the Governmental Ethics Ordinance, failure to complete the training by the deadline subjects late filers to a determination that they violated the Ordinance, a fine (if they fail to complete the training within the statutory grace period), and that their names be made public in a manner determined by the Board.

As provided by law, the Board’s Executive Director determined that the seven (7) employees listed herein were in violation of the Ordinance for failure to complete their 2013 training as required, but that no fine would be imposed because they did complete the training within the statutory grace period.  The Board has directed that, as provided by law, their names shall be posted on the Board’s website for 30 consecutive days.
