Mayor Emanuel today commended Lawson Products on its decision to move its corporate headquarters to the City of Chicago in the early summer of 2012.

“Lawson Products has made a significant commitment to the city of Chicago today,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Lawson is an industry leader and I am pleased they are relocating their corporate headquarters to Chicago. I am confident Lawson will benefit from Chicago’s comprehensive transportation networks, outstanding workforce and vibrant environment for business.”

“We explored a number of options for the location of our corporate headquarters.  Relocating into Chicago provided us with a reasonable commute for our current workforce, while offering many conveniences to continue to attract and retain top talent,” said Lawson Products CEO Tom Neri.  “Our new corporate headquarters are the ideal location for us to take an important step forward for a vibrant future of our business.”

The company’s 400 employees will work at the headquarters facility.

The company will locate its new headquarters near O’Hare airport, in close proximity to the Kennedy Expressway as well as the Blue Line CTA line. Company officials stated that the advantages offered by the city, including access to public transportation and major road systems, made the decision the right move.

Lawson Products, founded in 1952, is traded publicly on the NASDAQ exchange. The company is a distributor of maintenance, repair, and operations supplies, in all 50 states as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. More than 300,000 parts are manufactured by Lawson.

No city financial incentives were received by Lawson as part of this deal.
