Loews Hotel Groundbreaking

Today, Mayor Emanuel joined Loews Hotels & Resorts at the ceremonial groundbreaking of the new Loews Chicago Hotel.

“Chicago’s hotel occupancy reached a record high last year and companies continue to build hotels in our city as more and more tourists, business travelers and conventions are flocking to Chicago,” said Mayor Emanuel.  “I am pleased to see this hotel rise from the ground, creating hundreds of jobs, and setting up Chicago to continue its growth as one of the premiere destinations in the entire United States.”

Loews Hotel and Resorts’ investment in Chicago’s downtown will create nearly 600 jobs for Chicago’s residents, consisting of over 250 construction positions and 350 permanent staffing positions once completed.  Loews’ Chicago 52-story tower will open in early 2015 and will contain a state-of-the-art hotel, with apartments above.
