Mayor Rahm Emanuel today welcomed local band, Santah, at the opening day of The Wurst Festival at Daley Plaza.  The Wurst Festival (thewursfestival.com) showcases some of Chicago’s finest artisanal sausage and runs September 18-20, 11 a.m.-8 p.m, admission is free.  The Wurst Festival is not only featuring local sausage crafters but will also spotlight several local musicians and will serve as a sneak peek to the first ever Chicago Music Summit being held at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) on Friday, September 20.

“Chicago has a reputation for cultivating talented musicians,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel.  “The new Chicago Music Summit will be an avenue to connect talent with resources needed for a successful music career. It is important to support local Chicago talent.”

The inaugural Chicago Music Summit includes a full day of free panel dialogues and networking, and an evening of free concerts, at the Chicago Cultural Center and Storefront Theater (66 E. Randolph St.).  The summit, sponsored by Google, is a new symposium presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to expose Chicago’s blossoming music scene and link professionals with local and national industry leaders.

Santah along with more than 20 local acts from an array musical genres will perform throughout the Chicago Cultural Center, 6:30 – 9 p.m. as part of the free Music Showcases at the Chicago Music Summit.   Santah is a Chicago based indie rock band. Their debut album, White Noise Bed was released nationally in June 2011.  In November 2012, the band released their EP, “You’re Still A Lover” through a Chicago based record label, Saki Records.  Santah will be performing in the Rock Room, the Claudia Cassidy Theater at 8:15p.m.
