Extreme Weather Advisory General Order 24-1

Due to the extreme weather conditions predicted for the Chicagoland area from Friday, January 12th, 2024, until Tuesday January 16th, 2024, Patricia Jackowiak, the Director/Chief Administrative Law Judge of the Department of Administrative Hearings (DOAH) has ordered that no adverse action be taken against respondents who fail to appear for their hearing during this time.

Respondents who are unable to attend their hearing will be mailed an order indicating a new court date.

All DOAH facilities will be open to the public during this time (except for the Monday January 15th observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday).

Department of Administrative Hearings are conducting virtual hearings for certain case types.  If you have been notified that this option is available for your case, please click here for more information.

Motion To Set Aside the Default

General Order 20-3 from the Chief Administrative Law Judge motions to set aside the default can be submitted via email.

Please complete the MTSA form and chose one of the three following options:

     1.) email it to AH-MTSA@cityofchicago.org 

     2.) fax to 312.742.8222, 

     3.)  file in person at 400 West Superior. 

Please select only one of the above options.  For email or fax requests, please allow at least three business days for you MTSA to be processed.  Resubmitting another request will delay the process.  Do not email and than faxed or mailed in your MTSA.

DOAH will then schedule a hearing date on which this motion will be heard and send you notification to your email. Please include a daytime phone number on this motion.
