The Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced that as part of the Grand Ave. reconstruction project, the intersection of Grand and Homan Aves. will be closed so the viaduct on Homan Ave. can be restored. The work will last through August.
Vehicles traveling northwest on Grand will be directed north on Kedzie Ave. and then west on Division St. back to Grand Ave. Southeast bound traffic will be detoured east on Division St. and south on Kedzie Ave and then back to Grand Ave.
Southbound traffic on Homan will be detoured to eastbound Division St. then south on Kedzie Ave. and then west on Chicago Ave. and finally back to southbound Homan Ave. Northbound traffic on Homan will detour to eastbound Chicago Ave. then north on Kedzie, west on Division St. back to northbound Homan Ave.
The reconstruction of West Grand Ave. between Pulaski and Chicago is the fifth of eight projects of an overall improvement program along Grand Avenue between Fullerton and Des Plaines. The final three phases of the Grand Avenue project are in various stages of planning and design. They are: Chicago Avenue to Damen Avenue; Damen Avenue to Racine Avenue; and, Racine Avenue to Des Plaines Street. During the project, traffic on Grand Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction within the work zone.
