Statement from Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Julie Morita, M.D. on the release of the Senate Healthcare Bill

"Chicago is healthier today as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Over 300,000 Chicagoans gained insurance and 1.5 million Chicagoans saw improvements in their coverage. The new Senate plan released today will roll back that progress, potentially cutting Medicaid coverage for 216,000 Chicagoans,  making plans more expensive for middle class and working families, and eliminating public health funds that support critical services like vaccines and mental health.  We call on every Senator to do what is right for the American people and our communities and stop this dangerous plan."
