20-Unit Supportive Housing Development Proposed for Near North Side

312.744.9267

A 20-unit supportive housing facility would be built on the Near North Side through a $2.5 million
City loan proposed to City Council today by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The $7 million project would feature 300-square-foot efficiency apartments, laundry facilities, a
fitness center, and a community space. All units would receive rental assistance from the Chicago
Housing Authority (CHA) and be affordable for tenants earning up to 50 percent of area median
income.

The building, planned by Lincoln Park Community Services, would share case management and
support staff with an adjacent homeless shelter.

Additional funding would include a $4.5 million loan from the Illinois Housing Development
Authority (IHDA).
