While CHA is open to a range of proposals, including commercial, retail, and light industrial and manufacturing, the selected developer should plan to include a minimum of 183 public housing units, either on the LeClaire site or off-site in designated nearby areas
Located in Chicago's Garfield Ridge community area in the 22nd Ward, the site is bounded by the Stevenson Expressway to the north, West 45th Street to the south, South Lavergne Avenue to the west and South Cicero Avenue to the east. LaClaire Courts was a series of two-story row-houses that totaled 616 units dating back to the 1950s. In 2011, residents were located off-site and the homes were demolished.
The selected respondent will assume responsibility of the overall development process. Completion of the entire redevelopment in a timely fashion is critical, but CHA is open to a phased development approach.
