A Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs

"A Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs" was created by World Business Chicago under the direction of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. As an economic development plan, it encompasses rigorous analysis of the levers that drive Chicago's growth, clear goals, a framework for analysis, and strategies based upon the city's unique assets.

The plan is the product of a diverse steering committee and feedback from nearly 200 multi-sector participants, guided by a team of recognized economic development practitioners. It lays the foundation for a collaborative, inclusive and ongoing economic development and planning process.

Key sections include:

  • Foundations for Economic Growth Planning
  • Economic Market Analysis
  • Transformative Strategies
  • Opportunity for Impact and Risks
  • Implementation

As it is enacted, Chicago’s economic engine will be strengthened, it’s parks and open spaces will be expanded, and its rapid transit and roadway systems will be extended and improved.
