Midwest TIF

Designation: 2000    Expiration: 2036

Covering 1,996 acres in the North Lawndale and East Garfield Park communities, the Midwest TIF largely consists of residential and commercial properties on blocks that include an abundance of underutilized lots and buildings. The TIF was designated to foster the evolution of a planned and cohesive neighborhood containing a range of housing types, stores at the intersections of major streets, and a network of parks and open spaces. Funds are intended to assist with rehabilitation efforts and to cover eligible costs involved with the construction of new buildings. The TIF is also designed to encourage the creation of shared parking structures, to assist with neighborhood beautification efforts, and to enhance area transit facilities and infrastructure assets.
