Job Announcement

The City of Chicago is seeking an IT Director-Enterprise Revenue & Tax Systems.  This position functions as part of the Department of Innovation & Technology’s Managed Operations management team directing one or more highly complex City-wide IT projects, programs and/or initiatives, and performs related duties as required.                  

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Provides program management and team leadership for all assigned projects under the Enterprise Revenue & Tax Systems program supported by the ARMS, IRIS & Cashiering systems and associated applications
  • Directs, communicates, integrates and is accountable for the overall success of the Enterprise Revenue & Tax Systems program and associated initiatives ensuring alignment with critical operational priorities and business needs
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive application environment working with architecture and platform teams
  • Participates in the strategic planning, budgeting, analysis, designing, integration, testing training, deployment and support of assigned projects and initiatives
  • Participates in efforts to improve and streamline business processes
  • Oversees project selection, prioritization, budget management, risk management, quality management and resource allocations
  • Manages the work of project managers and technical staff responsible for the coordination, support, maintenance and implementation of various projects and initiatives
  • Oversees and manages vendor relationships, contracts and vendor work efforts that support assigned  program(s), projects, and/or initiatives
  • Functions as a senior expert and change agent communicating and/or collaborating with senior City leadership, stakeholders, business owners and customers to discuss project strategy, direction and changes
  • Delivers all projects contained in the Enterprise Revenue & Tax Systems program’s project portfolio on time, within budget and meeting the strategic and business requirements
  • Prepares and directs the preparation of reports to identify long range strategic issues relevant to departmental goals
  • Participates in steering committees by assisting in the development of citywide IT agendas and policies, development of IT strategic plans, and prioritization of major projects, programs and initiatives
  • Participate / lead various selection committee in the RFQ and RFP process as assigned
  • Performs special projects and directs the implementation of management initiatives, as required
  • Participates in the development of the department’s annual budget, as required
  • Responsible for the professional development and mentoring of DoIT staff assigned to the Enterprise Revenue & Tax Systems program
  • Drives innovation within the Enterprise Revenue and Tax Systems program portfolio to keep pace with the emerging technology landscape
